NASCAR’s Brian France to Be Honored at Cynopsis Sports Media Awards
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 21, 2014 -- Cynopsis Sports is proud to announce that Brian France, Chairman and CEO of NASCAR will be honored with the Vision Award at the third annual Cynopsis Sports Media Awards Breakfast on April 17 at The Yale Club in New York City. He will be joined by executives and talent from around the industry who are competing for the signature sports business awards presented by the daily sports business publication.
The Vision Award recognizes the executive of the year from a sports league or organization, and someone who has demonstrated innovation and works that has transformed the industry. Since France assumed the reins of NASCAR, the sport has achieved unprecedented growth in the value of its broadcast rights, spearheaded NASCAR’s eco-friendly initiative NASCAR Green, relaunched NASCAR.com and implemented its industry growth initiative, among other achievements. In addition, NASCAR now boasts nearly one in four Fortune 500 companies participating in the sport – up 8% over 2008.
Over the last decade, France’s leadership of NASCAR has firmly positioned the sport among the most visible and successful sports and entertainment properties in the world. His vision and steady leadership of NASCAR has yielded dramatic geographic expansion, financial growth and numerous initiatives that have modernized and matured an entire industry, positioning it for a competitive future driven by technology, innovation, highly effective business platforms and relevance to diverse audiences.
On July 23, 2013, NASCAR and NBC Sports Group reached a comprehensive agreement that grants NBCUniversal exclusive rights to the final 20 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races, final 19 NASCAR Nationwide Series events, select NASCAR Regional & Touring Series events and other live content beginning in 2015.
“I can think of no one better to receive the Vision Award than Brian,” said Chris Pursell, Director of Sports Content at Cynopsis Sports. “His work to continually evolve the sport, engage fans, activate brands and implement technology defines what the award is all about.”
