Former Spook Offered Top-Dollar Deal for Clandestine Manuscript by Television Production Company
London (PRWEB) March 21, 2014 -- Syncretic Media and its European production partner Halcyon Television of Europe have made a six-figure offer to acquire the rights to Jon Augustine’s manuscript, “Operating Naked – A Black-Bag Job,” a political thriller based on his clandestine days as a Special Operations officer in the US Army Intelligence Support Activity (USAISA). Augustine is the secretive ex-undercover spook who served as one of the behind-the-scenes technical advisors to the hit USA Television series Burn Notice.
Syncretic Media partnered with Halcyon Television of Europe, which is owned by Wanda Shanghai Inc., to acquire the rights to produce a television series for worldwide distribution. They are also in discussion to acquire book rights.
"Operating Naked –A Black-Bag Job" is a fictional account based on real-life events. “Black-bag jobs” are clandestine operations to obtain information – sometimes illegally, always highly dangerous. "Operating Naked" is an edge-of-your-seat drama about US operatives during the controversial impeachment hearings from 1997-1999.
Jon Augustine is a pseudonym for the former spy of USAISA, otherwise known as “The Activity.” The Activity is a top-secret Special Operations Unit that collects actionable intelligence in advance of missions by other US Special Operations forces, especially counterterrorist operations. Activity operatives are recruited from the ranks of United States Special Forces, legendary for their self-reliance and specialized skill-set.
“This is an exciting and relevant story of political intrigue, subterfuge and murder all taking place during the US impeachment hearings held in the 1990s,” according to Zhan Yang, spokeswoman for Wanda Shanghai Inc.
