2nd Annual Electronics Recycling Collection Event for Earth Day
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) April 02, 2014 -- Free electronics recycling is available during the second annual Earth Day recycling event with WMNF, a community radio station and Creative Recycling Systems (CRS). Everyone is invited to clean out their closets and bring by computers, cell phones, and most other electronics that “plug into the wall” to 1210 East MLK Jr. Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33603 in Tampa every day leading up to Earth Day, April 22nd.
•Free electronics recycling
•Available to both businesses and households
•Electronics can be dropped off at any time. If it's after hours, ask the DJ to let you bring items inside
•For a complete list of accepted electronics, visit http://www.crserecycling.com/services/acceptable-material.html
What Happens to the Electronics?
CRS collects and processes all electronics. All items that could contain sensitive data (hard drives, memory cards, etc.) will be sanitized or destroyed. Every piece collected will be remarketed, recovered or recycled at no cost to the public.
Last year’s Earth Day event kept:
•Over 3 tons of electronics out of our landfills
•Hundreds of millions of micrograms of lead out of the environment through the amount of computers collected
Quotes to Note
“Electronics Recycling begins at the community level with education. Working with WMNF 88.5 on Earth Day--for the second consecutive year—is a great way to share electronics recycling with the community. Given the success of last year’s event, it was a no-brainer to turn this into an annual collaboration,” said Tiffini Schwarzkopf, Executive Director of Marketing for Creative Recycling Systems. She added, “Having the opportunity to educate and provide a safe electronics recycling outlet is tremendous. When you clean out an office or home and recycle the electronics you no longer use--or need--you actually feel good. To know that they are safely recycled, feels even better.”
“We were blown away by the amount of electronics we collected last year,” said Sheila Cowley, Operations Manager at WMNF, “our partnership with Creative Recycling helps us provide the community with a safe outlet for recycling electronics.”
