About the Show
“I can see that you’ve got quite a mind for your age!
Why, one Think and you dragged me right onto the stage!
Now, I’m here, there is no telling what may ensue
With a Cat such as me, and a Thinker like you.”
So says the mischievous Cat in the Hat at the onset of this fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie La Bird and all of the Whos of Whoville.
The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing Whos, including JoJo the young “thinker of strange and wonderful thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge – not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.
Although Horton faces ridicule, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. As the story unfolds you will marvel at how relevant and profound Seuss’s subtle themes are; making this musical one that appeals to all ages.
