Daddy, Daughter Star in New Picture Book for Children by Cheryl Kula
HINTON, W.Va. (PRWEB) March 24, 2014 -- When a young girl’s mother leaves for work Friday, it’s not cause for sadness because that’s the day the girl and her dad get to spend together. This new children’s book tells what happens during their day, from start to finish. The story ends at the best part of the day – when Mommy comes home and all three sit down at the dinner table to talk about what happened while they were apart.
“Play Day with Daddy” features typical activities for families: a pancake breakfast, foraging in the garden for fruits and vegetables, having a picnic lunch and reading stories about dragons and knights. It’s a fun way for the girl and her father to spend the day, as well as their cat, who insists on tagging along. Colorful cartoon illustrations by Karl Trolenberg fit perfectly with Cheryl Kula’s gentle rhyming story. The book’s easy prose works equally well as a read-aloud story or one children can tackle themselves.
This is the first children’s book for author Cheryl Kula, who has two daughters with her husband, Ted. They live in a mountainous area of West Virginia. Illustrator Karl Trolenberg, a graduate of the East Carolina School of Art, has worked in the arts for 17 years. He and his wife, Kathryn, have two sons. They live in Virginia.
