Boston, MA (PRWEB) March 25, 2014

David J. Dykeman, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Global Life Sciences & Medical Technology Group, will be a featured speaker at the ACI Collaborative Agreements & Acquisitions Conference (Maximizing Rewards in Your M&A, Licensing, Strategic Alliances and Partnering Deals) from March 31 - April 2, 2014 at the Carlton Hotel in New York City.

Dykeman will serve as a panelist for “How the New Patent Rules and Recent Supreme Court Decisions Are Impacting Life Sciences Licensing” from 2:30 - 3:45 pm on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. This panel will explore how the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decisions in MedImmune, Prometheus and Myriad are shifting the licensing landscape and generating new tactics in life sciences licensing and patent procurement. Specific topics include:

Gauging the impact of the America Invents Act on licensing practices

When does it make sense to challenge patent validity when you’re already under a protective license?

What are best practices for licensors to reduce the risk that their licensees will challenge validity?

Do the implications of these cases extend beyond gene patents and diagnostic patents?

How is the US Patent Office implementing guidance under these cases to ensure its patent examiners grant life sciences patents of appropriate scope?

A registered patent attorney with over 18 years of experience in patents, intellectual property, and licensing, Dykeman focuses his practice on securing strategic worldwide intellectual property protection and related business strategy for high-tech clients, with particular expertise in medical devices, life sciences, biotechnology and healthcare IT. In 2012, Dykeman was appointed the founding co-chair of the ABA Section of Science & Technology Law's Medical Device Committee. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC), and on the Editorial Advisory Board of Medical Device + Diagnostic Industry (MD+DI) Magazine.

An author of over 45 articles and a speaker at over 40 conferences on medical devices and life sciences intellectual property, Dykeman was honored as one of “40 Medtech Innovators Under 40” by MD+DI Magazine, and was named one of the top 250 Patent and Technology Licensing Practitioners in the world by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) Magazine.
