NDIA Announces Confirmed Agenda, Speakers – Including Keynotes From Kendall, Falcone – For 15th Annual Science & Engineering Technology Conference/Defense Tech Exposition
Arlington, VA (PRWEB) March 25, 2014 -- National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) has announced the agenda, including keynote speakers, for its 15th Annual Science & Engineering Technology (S&ET) Conference/Defense Tech Exposition to be held April 8-10, 2014, at the College Park Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Hyattsville, MD.
Keynote addresses will be given by Mr. Frank Kendall, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, & Logistics and The Honorable Patricia Falcone, Associate Director for National Security and International Affairs, The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
This year’s event promises an agenda packed with high-level government leaders, as well as an exciting Exhibit Hall with displays and posters on emerging concepts and technologies. Dynamic panels will include an International S&T Panel. Discussions will focus on FY15 Budget Request for DoD, OSD and the Services.
In a recent memo, Mr. Kendall said the following about events such as this one: “The Department is the single largest employer of scientists and engineers in the United States. Maintaining professional currency is an important part of this investment in human capital. Science and Technology (S&T) conferences and symposia, at which technical data and information is exchanged, are potentially beneficial both for maintaining technical competence and for the professional development of DoD scientists and engineers."
This year’s theme is “Leveraging the DoD Science and Technology Program to Create Future Warfighting Capabilities Through Rapid Prototyping and Emerging Concept Demonstration.” Disruptive military capabilities such as low observability, precise timing and location, and “owning the night” were developed through strategic DoD and industry IR&D investment. These advancements were in “out of the box” emerging technology development and demonstration efforts, which are proving difficult to continue under the changing climate and uncertain budgets.
During this time of rapidly changing global security and a declining defense budget, the value of those involved in science and engineering development is being demonstrated through emerging operations concepts and rapid innovative prototyping. Because of these and other factors, this year’s S&ET event will prove to be timely and valuable for all who attend.
