Two of the top seeds in the first annual Mower Madness Tournament were mowed over by the competition yesterday.

No. 14 Black & Decker advanced to the second round with a 51-49 last second win over No. 3 Exmark. No. 10 Billy Goat also defeated No. 7 Wright by 62-38.

The Mower Madness Tournament uses bracketology to determine the best lawn mower brand in the land. All four top seeds – Toro, Snapper, John Deere and Bad Boy – easily cruised to victory in the first round of voting.


The second round of the Mower Madness Tournament officially started today and spans a 4-day stretch through Thursday, March 27.

The remaining 32 lawn mower brands are separated in four divisions:

Craftsman vs. Black & Decker
Bob-Cat vs. Simplicity
