Ernie's Van & Storage Modernizes Truck Fleet to Stay Ahead of CARB Law
Grass Valley, CA (PRWEB) March 24, 2014 -- With a major deadline for a new California emissions law less than a year away, Ernie's Van & Storage, a moving company, has made major investments in its vehicles. Among them are the purchase of two, new Kenworth T680 tractors and two, new International straight trucks, or "bobtails," as they are often referred to in the moving industry.
"We have also retrofitted a 1995 Freightliner with an emissions filter, as mandated by law," says Matt Sowell, General Manager.
The investments are helping the company comply with radical changes imposed on California's trucking industry. The adoption of the 2008 California Statewide Truck and Bus Rule by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) mandates older diesel engines be replaced or retrofitted with approved filters.
"This new law puts in place challenging hurdles for small businesses," says Matt. "However, we take seriously our corporate responsibility to reduce our impact on the environment. In the process, we are making sure our fleet is among the best and our ability to serve customers will only be enhanced as a result."
