Gables Park 17, one of the most unique luxury high rise apartment home communities in Uptown Dallas, announces its inaugural, “Intimate Evening of Art.” This event will feature the talents of seven artists presenting artwork of varied media in a community which was designed specifically to display original artwork on each of its residential floors. Gables Park 17 has an expansive collection of more than 100 pieces of art (http://www.Gables.com/Park17).

The “Intimate Evening of Art” is the creation of curator Pamela Sedmak. “When you enter Park 17 you are surrounded by art literally from the extravagant tile floors to the gorgeous paintings on the lobby ceiling,” boasts Miss Sedmak. Miss Sedmak, who has been creating art for over 30 years, including selling her first oil painting at age 12, wanted to curate a show of great artistic talent upon joining Gables Park 17 two years ago in her role as Lead Concierge.

The event will be held on Park 17ʼs luxurious 7th floor amenity area on April 5th, from 6pm - 9:30 pm. The “Intimate Evening of Art,” is Miss Sedmakʼs first show to curate and the first event to showcase art and artists at Park 17. “My goal for this show is to provide our residents and guests with an evening to not only view, but meet and interact with talented artists who reflect the artistic stage that is Gables Park 17,” beams Miss Sedmak. “I have 7 amazing artists who I fondly call the ʻMagnificent 7ʼ.”

Michael McWillie, one of the artists, founded what has been called the “Canine Neo-Surrealist Movement.” McWillieʼs art led to his painting of The First Dog, a Scottish terrier named Barney, proudly displayed in First Lady Laura Bushʼs White House office. In 2004, a McWillie painting, Every Dog Has a Dream, was selected by the American Humane Association for their Adopt a Dog Month campaign promoting adoptions of animals from shelters (michaelmcwillie.com). “I am pleased to have Michael as part of this show not only for his amazing talent, but also to promote Gables Park 17ʼs dog-friendly environment.

David Newman (David Newman@DNSF) from San Francisco will amaze everyone at the show by displaying his world famous portraits which are painted on the iPad. David’s many iPad paintings of innovators In Silicon Valley include Steve Wozniak, one of the founders of Apple Computer. “Residents and guests alike ask me how does he do that and I say with a smile, “Come to the show and see!” Another must see artist is Mexican born, J. Alberto Reyes. He was born in Monterrey and now lives in Dallas, TX. A graduate from the Art Institute of Dallas, Alberto gets his inspiration through abstract and cubist art incorporating the sights of Mexican life and personal experiences (J. Miss Sedmak concludes, “I am grateful to the artists, our generous sponsors and to Barbara Schuler, the community manager at Gables Park 17. This is the first event of its kind in Dallas.”
