San Diego, CA (PRWEB) March 31, 2014

McWire Electric, one of the nation’s top solar companies, is preparing for another San Diego solar boost this summer. Based on the high demand in 2013 for solar and electrical work, McWire Electric is adding sales, marketing and installation crews to accommodate the rapid growth. “Last year we moved into a 7,400 square foot facility in El Cajon to prepare for an even busier 2014 and we are growing at an incredible pace,” said Andrew McGuire, CEO of McWire Electric. McWire Electric has the combination of experience, product and financing to outpace the growing San Diego solar market.

According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the U.S. solar market grew by 41% in 2013. McWire Electric’s growth is up 46% over 2013, exceeding the market pace. The U.S. now has over 8,500 megawatts of installed solar; enough to power 1.3 million homes.

SEIA® Article Highlights:

-The U.S. installed 4,751 megawatts of solar PV in 2013, up 41% over 2012 and nearly fifteen times the amount installed in 2008.
-There are now a total of 12.1 gigawatts of PV operating in the U.S.
-More solar has been installed in the U.S. in the last 18 months than in the 30 years prior.

Last year the market fluctuated on a monthly basis. SDG&E announced rate increases, and just after that, was unable to bring the San Onofre nuclear plan back to operational status. The combination of the reduction in San Diego solar pricing and the lack of confidence in the public utilities, created a great opportunity for companies like McWire Electric. “There really has never been a better time to get solar,” said Andrew Siminoff, General Manager at McWire Electric.

“I feel that the San Diego solar market will stabilize this year. There has been a lot of sprawl in our industry, but this year there will be clear winners and many companies who will fall to the wayside. Consumers now have a great, sustainable investment opportunity. However, it’s important that they choose the right company, the company that will be able to support them not only with installation, but over the life of their solar system,” said Shawn Black, Director of Marketing at McWire Electric.
