techJOYnT Academy Ships Off to Washington DC for STEM Education Awareness
Oklahoma City, OK (PRWEB) March 31, 2014 -- Since the introduction of the white house initiative “educate to innovate,” STEM education has been a hot topic for the press. Dismal scores in science and math around the country has prompted gatherings like the US News STEM Solutions Conference and the USA Science and Engineering Festival to raise awareness. Attendees can expect an even greater turnout this year than previous years, considering the growing concern for the subject. Among the representatives for Oklahoma, techJOYnT Academy will be in DC, with an interactive booth showcasing Robotics and Game Design.
The STEM crisis in the United States demands solutions—and nowhere is the search more concentrated than at U.S. News STEM Solutions. Now in its third year, this conference is focused on leadership and problem solving. STEM Solutions has become a forum to advance the future of the STEM workforce. Experts, advocates and change-makers who are intently working to fill jobs, expect to see real results from conferences like this. This year STEM Champions can zero in on visible results, success across the nation and strategies for collaboration that are already making waves and causing change in STEM fields. techJOYnT has a vested interest in the development of the STEM pipeline, and will be making Oklahoma’s voice heard where it will have the most impact. Washington is abuzz with STEM Solutions since the White House initiative ‘Educate to Innovate’.
Last year at the Third Annual White House Science Fair in April, President Barack Obama spoke a bit about the ‘Educate to Innovate’ project, “One of the things that I’ve been focused on as President is how we create an all-hands-on-deck approach to science, technology, engineering, and math… We need to make this a priority to train an army of new teachers in these subject areas, and to make sure that all of us as a country are lifting up these subjects for the respect that they deserve.”
While theUS News STEM Solutions conference is geared toward educators and leaders in the varied fields of STEM, the USA Science & Engineering Festival is a national grassroots effort to advance STEM education and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. Very family friendly and host to hands on activities and exhibits, performers, and speakers, the USA Science and Engineering Festival is a who-is-who of STEM from across the United States. Right alongside major academic centers, leading research institutes, government agencies, cutting-edge high tech companies, museums and community organizations, techJOYnT Academy will attend and grow for the interests of its students back in Oklahoma.
In November 2009, the President launched the Educate to Innovate initiative to move American students from the middle to the top of the pack in science and math achievement over the next decade. STEM Academies efforts across the nation mirror the goals, not only of the Federal Government, but also of leading companies, foundations, non-profits, and science and engineering societies who have come forward to answer the President’s call for all-hands-on deck. To date, this nation-wide effort has garnered over $700 million in public-private partnerships and hit major milestones in priority areas. techJOYnT is proud to be supportive in this initiative to drive innovation for America’s future well being.
