Northeast Corporate Counsel Forum Comes to Atlantic City June 24-25, 2014, HB Announces
ATLANTIC CITY (PRWEB) March 27, 2014 -- In-house counsel from Fortune 500 companies and leading law firms will gather here to offer insights and practical guidance on several of the most urgent challenges facing corporations today, HB Litigation Conferences Managing Director Tom Hagy has announced. The faculty includes a former New Jersey Supreme Court Justice, Hagy said, adding that attendees also will be joined by a former Super Bowl MVP.
Executive Producer of the event, Veritext Legal Solutions’ Marc Goldberg says, “A corporation’s relationship with outside counsel is one of the most important partnerships it can have in navigating a changing regulatory and litigation landscape and protecting the long-term health of the organization.” To gain insight into nurturing such an important collaboration, in-house counsel and law firms are encouraged to attend the “Northeast Corporate Counsel Forum,” a collaboration between HB Litigation Conferences and Veritext, June 24 and 25 at the Revel in Atlantic City.
The program opens with a look at the many facets of an internal investigation including why, when and where such an investigation should take place and who should take the lead. Former New Jersey Supreme Court Justice and state Attorney General Peter G. Verniero of Sills Cummis & Gross and Bart M. Schwartz of GuidePost Solutions will walk attendees through this important process.
E-discovery challenges – and the evolving rules – will be addressed by Sheldon Finkelstein of Podvey Meanor; Nathaniel Huber-Fliflet of Navigant; Anthony Low of Freddie Mac; Bill McManus of Ryley Carlock & Applewhite and Dera Nevin, currently E-Discovery Faculty & Advisory Board Member for Bryan University and former Managing E-Discovery Counsel for TD Bank.
Joel B. Rosen of Montgomery McCracken; Robert Priestly of Clyde & Co; and Jerry Goldstein of New Jersey Trial Consulting LLC will share settlement techniques and the best ways to drive an acceptable resolution.
PSEG’s Vaughn McKoy; Sanofi’s Jason Steinhart; Jordan Siev of Reed Smith; Frederick Paulmann of Counsel Management Group; and Jeffrey Bartolino, New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance, will share best practices for creating effective and budget-wise partnerships with outside counsel.
The first afternoon session will focus on the use of technology in litigation. Branly Cadet of Paradocs; Dave DaSilva and Brian McCann of Veritext; and Peter Pizzi of Connell Foley will discuss hyperlinked electronic briefs and why more judges and arbitrators are requesting them. The panelists will discuss Web-based depositions, native evidence capture, and effective multimedia presentations.
Ethics will be addressed next, as Ron Israel of Wolff Samson and former Curtis Wright General Counsel Michael Denton examines the duties and obligations an attorney faces when representing a corporation under the New Jersey Rules of Professional Conduct Section 1.13.
Special guest Ottis “OJ” Anderson, former New York Giants running back and Super Bowl XXV MVP will join the audience.
The event is tailored for attorneys who represent corporations, in-house counsel and legal department staff. In-house counsel, judges, government officials, law students and members of the press are welcome at no cost while seats are available.
