Focusing on customers’ desires for more robust implementations, the objective of the Best of Breed Showcase was to highlight SharePoint organizations worldwide that exhibited a best of breed approach to solving unstructured and semi-structured challenges, leveraging SharePoint. The goal was to create expanded opportunities for industry collaboration, through leading-edge knowledge sharing forums and recognition of SharePoint ecosystems' most inventive solutions.
Nottinghamshire County Council is the UK’s 10th largest Council, with approximately 13,000 staff, including 6,500 PC users. The Council has a significant number of diverse information assets that support the delivery of over 300 discrete services. conceptClassifier for SharePoint supported the solution to deliver the Information Asset Register which is a listing of all the Information Assets held by the Council, together with its initial risk assessment, retention cycles and security levels. The Information Asset Register is the foundation upon which a structured approach to managing information will be built.
West Sussex County Council’s objective was to streamline its operations around the management of documents of record held by its business units. In migrating many thousands of documents from its network file shares to SharePoint, part of the initiative included removing duplicate documents and other unwanted material, but also specifically meta-tagging documents automatically, so that they are easier to find and managed cost-effectively throughout their lifecycle. conceptClassifier for SharePoint was used to achieve the commonality of document description that it required, describing content in common business terms, and helping to improve the precision and relevance of Search in SharePoint.
