Pakistan Oil & Gas 2014 Summit held on 19th-20th March, in Marriott Hotel, Islamabad
(PRWEB UK) 27 March 2014 -- Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources; Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources; Mr. Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister, Ministry of Water and Power; Professor Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of Planning and Development; honoured the Summit with their attendance together with senior lever executives from national and international oil and gas companies.
Mr. Athar Ali, COO at Ocean Pakistan Ltd and Chairman of the senior level event, opened the two day meeting while the inaugural keynote speech was given by His Excellency Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources.
Mr. Tashfeen Qayyum, Chairman of the seismic company that conducted the surveys on oil discovery locations, along with Quantum Energy, and Mr Shahbaz Khan – an industry expert, provided an outlook on Pakistan’s present oil exploration and production landscape.
Mr. Michael Curtis, Director at the Energy Office of USAID/Pakistan, offered exclusive insights on the country’s shale gas potential, while Dr. Mohammad Saeed Khan Jadoon, Executive Director of Exploration at the Oil and Gas Development Company of Pakistan, discussed the benefits of working with Pakistan’s national oil and gas company. Mr Muhammad Nizamuddin, Exploration Manager at Polish Oil & Gas Company, provided an overview of the country’s petroleum system.
Insightful contributions also came from the Chief Executive Officers of international oil companies operating in the country; Mr. Mehran Inayat Mirza, CEO at Premier Oil Pakistan Holdings, spoke about Pakistan’s energy regulations and policies affecting E&P activities, and Mr. Anwar Moin, CEO at Ocean Pakistan Ltd, focused on how to attract new investments in the country’s hydrocarbon sector.
Mr. Nadeem Ahmad, Senior Manager at Pakistan Petroleum Ltd, closed the Summit’s first day with a speech that offered exclusive insights on domestic and global E&P ventures.
The Minister of Water and Power, Mr. Khawaja Muhammad Asif, opened the Summit’s second day with his Keynote Speech. The Director General at the Geological Survey in Pakistan, Dr. Imran Ahmed Khan, subsequently discussed the role of indigenous coal resources in the Pakistani energy sector.
Mr. Muhammad Asad, Assistant Country Manager at CNPC’s subsidiary; BGP, offered exclusive insights on the seismic data the company has acquired and the indicated gas potential in it.
With the Summit covering all aspects of oil and gas business in Pakistan, the Managing Director of Veritas Academy, Mr. Steve Martin honoured the delegation with a presentation on organisational challenges that the companies are facing and ways to overcome them.
Other remarkable contributions came from Dr. Mumtaz Muhammad Shah, Assistant Professor at the Department of Earth Sciences in Quaid-i-Azam University, spoke about new trends and techniques in delineating reserves and carbonate reservoirs; Mr. Muhammad Iltaf, Executive Director at the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority in Pakistan, presented on the downstream petroleum sector; Mr. Rahat Kamal Siddiqui, Project Director at SSGC, gave insights on the status of LNG imports projects in Pakistan; Mr. Sohail A. Quraishi, Managing Director at SSGC, spoke about the LPG option as a clean cooking fuel; and Mr. Muhammad Arif, President of the Energy Lawyers Association in Pakistan, described the implications of the amendments on the Petroleum Law.
The closing Keynote Speech was led by the Minister of Planning and Development, Professor Ahsan Iqbal.
