Clarion Safety Systems Releases Guide to New OSHA/ANSI Safety Sign Systems for Today's Workplaces
Milford, PA (PRWEB) March 27, 2014 -- Clarion Safety Systems, a leading designer and manufacturer of safety signs and labels, has released a free informational resource to help workplaces better understand the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) 2013 workplace safety sign regulation update.
Safety signs, labels, tags and markings can play a key role in an organization’s efforts to communicate safety in today’s workplaces. However, for decades, OSHA’s regulations for workplace safety signs were based on outdated formats that were not aligned with the latest safety communication standards. Safety sign systems based on the old formats are substandard; while they may identify the hazards, they typically do not give workers enough substantive information.
In September 2013, a very significant development occurred: OSHA endorsed the latest best practices related to safety sign and tag technology by incorporating the 2011 ANSI Z535 safety sign and tag standards into its regulations. With OSHA’s update, organizations can now utilize the latest advances in warnings technology established in the ANSI Z535 standards for safety signs and tags – and be in compliance with OSHA.
To help environmental, health and safety professionals to better understand what this change means for them and their organizations, Clarion has produced a whitepaper, “New OSHA/ANSI Safety Sign Systems,” available as a free download on the company’s website.
The whitepaper:
• Explains why OSHA recognized the new and better warnings technology
• Shows how it better communicates safety in today’s public areas and workplaces
• Gives the information needed to develop and install best practice OSHA/ANSI safety sign systems
“Safety standards and codes are constantly changing. And at Clarion, we know how important it is to stay up-to-date to best protect people from harm and businesses from loss,” says Geoffrey Peckham, CEO of Clarion Safety Systems.
Peckham has more than two decades of experience in actively advancing safety communications. He has led and continues to lead both the U.S. and international efforts to harmonize standards in the area of safety signs, labels and marking; this includes contributing to the leadership and direction of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), OSHA and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) safety codes.
“We’re pleased to be able to use our standards expertise – and knowledge applying it across a variety of industries – in order to serve as a resource to promote a better understanding of today’s best practices for workplace safety signs and product safety labels.”
By registering on Clarion’s website, safety professionals will have immediate access to the whitepaper.
