Starfish Retention Solutions, Inc., a leading student success company, is pleased to recognize Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, Leeward Community College, and Worcester State University as the Rising Stars of the Starfish 360 Awards Program™. The program is designed to recognize institutions in the Starfish client community that have helped students in particularly innovative and impactful ways.
The Rising Star designation is given to institutions that have used the Starfish platform for approximately one year at the time of award submission and have made considerable progress in their adoption of technology to support their student success programs.
The distinguished panel of independent judges included Catherine Andersen, Ph.D., institute advisor and fellow with The John N. Gardner Institute for Excellence in Undergraduate Education and the former chief enrollment and marketing officer for Gallaudet University; Linda Baer, Ph.D., senior program consultant for i4Solutions and the former interim vice president for academic affairs at Minnesota State University, Mankato; and Sandra Whalen, interim director of the Consortium for Student Retention Data Exchange (CSRDE).
Starfish 360 Rising Star Winners:
- Cincinnati State Technical and Community College: Since implementing the Starfish platform in the spring of 2013, 83 percent of instructors in the pilot program chose to participate in the first midterm Progress Survey. By 2015, CSTCC hopes to use the Starfish platform to improve completion rates in the academic foundations courses for students needing remediation, TRIO-SSS and athletic programs, and to increase both the first-to-second year retention rate and the graduation rate.
