Vigor Systems to Showcase PitchBlue® Enhancements at NAB 2014
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) March 31, 2014 -- Enhancements to the PitchBlue syndicated content distribution platform will be showcased at Vigor Systems’ booth SU6524 during NAB 2014, April 7-10 in Las Vegas. As North America’s largest syndicated program delivery service, PitchBlue is used by major content owners including CBS, Warner Bros. and Sony to distribute over 700,000 TV episodes every month to MagnuBox servers deployed at nearly every broadcast station in the U.S. PitchBlue architect Vigor Systems developed and maintains the media logistics technology that powers the network and provides direct support to the 1,500 broadcasters relying on the service from its Operational Service Center in San Diego.
The third generation MagnuBox announced by Vigor Systems in January and scheduled for initial deployment in May will be on display for the first time at NAB. The new MagnuBox represents a significant technology upgrade and includes four digital video outputs to provide broader support for live delivery of first-run syndicated shows. The enhanced processor and memory performance of the new appliance accelerates media processing tasks such as transcoding and down-conversion. The improved performance also provides Vigor Systems with a more advanced platform to develop a new set of media management services aimed at further improving the workflows of broadcast stations within the PitchBlue network.
As many stations in the PitchBlue network rely on the service to deliver a significant portion of their daily on-air content, any failure in these stations’ ability to receive content would be operationally disruptive. The new PitchBlue Uptime service from Vigor Systems enables broadcasters to add a second MagnuBox at their location to strengthen operational security. Content delivered to a station subscribing to the Uptime service would be recorded in duplicate on two devices rather than one, greatly reducing the risk of any possible operational disruption. As full members of the PitchBlue network, Uptime service subscribers would also be supported by 24/7 monitoring, troubleshooting and upgrade assistance from the company’s Operational Service Center.
