OAKLAND, CA (PRWEB) March 29, 2014 -- The 2011 Chateau La Conseillante was selected as the best wine at the tasting.
The 2011 Bordeaux report comes on the heels of the excitement surrounding two of the greatest vintages Bordeaux has ever seen: 2009 and 2010. Many expected the 2011s to prove a disappointment by comparison, but JJ Buckley’s report demonstrates that the opposite is true - after tasting these finished bottlings, “2011 may prove to be the sleeper vintage of the 21st century,” thus far.
As report editor Chuck Hayward observed, “There are some real gems out there, wines of excellent quality and quite a few that are outstanding. These are wines that could not have been made 15-20 years ago. The improvements in Bordeaux's cellars and vineyards over the past few decades have ensured that wineries today make above average wines in average years.”
The Bordeaux region has been one of JJ Buckley’s most important wine categories since the company’s founding in 2005. Each year, a team of sales representatives travels to the region’s en primeur campaign meeting with owners and negociants to gain a complete understanding of the vintage. The annual Bordeaux Update Report is the assessment of the wines when they are finally released in bottle.
Next week, JJ Buckley returns to Bordeaux to assess the 2013 vintage. Keep up with their latest observations on Twitter at #JJBatBDX or through their blogposts at http://blog.jjbuckley.com.
