The treatment of the shadow that develops under the eyes has become one of my favourite areas to treat. Many of my clients do not realise it is even possible until they have had a detailed consultation.

The eyes are said to be the most expressive and attractive part of the face, but the delicate skin in the area is often the first to show signs of ageing.
While many non-surgical treatment practitioners shy away from this area, Dr Tim Pearce, founder and Clinical Director of SkinViva has developed his own unique method of rejuvenating the eye area by tackling the signs of tiredness such as under eye shadows or hollows, tired eyes, dark circles and tear troughs.
The under eye line develops as volume loss occurs in the face, often along with smile lines or the nose to mouth lines. The skin is delicate and thin and the fine dynamic facial muscles are in constant use as the eyes focus; with continuous movement as a range of emotions are communicated.
SkinViva’s Tear Trough Anti-Ageing Treatment involves careful and highly precise use of the very latest injectable facial filler products to sculpt and smooth the hollows and dark circles that can appear around the eye. The process demands exacting skill and a particularly delicate touch, but results are instantaneous and highly effective.
Dr Tim Pearce MB ChB BSc (Hons) MRCGP explains more:
“One of the best things about this treatment is the natural looking results it delivers and how it instantly makes patients look less tired and generally fresher.”
“The treatment of the shadow that develops under the eyes has become one of my favourite areas to treat. Many of my clients do not realise it is even possible until they have had a detailed consultation.”
SkinViva’s doctors use the very latest Juvéderm® fillers. Based on a formula of hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the skin but depletes over time, these fillers retain water to add volume back into ageing skin. Dr Tim Pearce favours Juvéderm® VOLBELLA®, which has a ground-breaking formulation which means a lower concentration of hyaluronic acid than other dermal fillers can deliver same effect. The product is an ultra-smooth gel known for a more natural look with minimal bruising and swelling perfect for the eye area.
Juvéderm® VOLBELLA is a temporary filler which has an estimated duration of 12-15 months. However, results in the eye area are longer-lasting.
Dr Tim Pearce continues:
“Because there is so little movement in the area, the treatment can last a very long time. I generally advise up to 2 years, but one of the first treatments I did has not needed a touch up in 5 years!”
A further appeal of the Juvéderm® range is the inclusion of Lidocaine local anaesthetic for a comfortable experience even in the sensitive eye area, especially when used with Dr Pearce’s Tear Trough injection techniques.
Dr Tim Pearce concludes:
“The eye area is the most delicate area of the face to inject, yet clients often comment on how slowly and gently the injections are applied - it's very different to your last flu vaccination! This aspect of the injection makes it surprisingly comfortable to inject, with many clients reporting that it is a completely painless experience.”
“However, the tear trough area does require advanced technique. If you are researching this area, be very sure that you only see an expert, it is not an area to trust to the novice or occasional injector.”
