Abel Olivera to Join Southern California Leadership

Jensen Meat Co., San Diego, CA, announced that Abel Olivera, Chief Operating Officer, was elected to the Board of Directors, Region 3, for the North America Meat Association (NAMA). Region 3 is one of 8 regions in the United States and represents all of Southern California.

NAMA leaders are selected for their integrity and experience, their vision and courage to lead, and their conviction to implement the policies of the organization. Directors are elected to a three-year term, and may serve a second term before a mandatory yearlong hiatus, thereby ensuring opportunities for leadership within NAMA. Olivera is serving his first term beginning July 2014.

In 2008, founder Bob Jensen began secession planning while looking to expand and grow the business. He mentored Olivera, who joined Jensen Meat in 2005, and in 2011 Olivera was promoted to his current position of Chief Operating Officer. Olivera is credited with moving the company’s headquarters operation from Vista to Otay Mesa in 2012, retaining employees in the San Diego area and providing for new growth of the business.
