Junebug Weddings, a leader in online wedding media, announced today the sale JunebugWeddings.com to an investor group based in Austin, Texas.

The new company’s core objectives will be to build on the existing brand strength by making investments in marketing, sales, and product.

“We’re excited to watch Junebug grow, thrive and reach a new level of potential as the quintessential wedding planning and style destination for modern couples,” says Co-founder Christy Weber. “It was very important for us to work with a group whose vision for Junebug was aligned with our own. We chose to work with this investor group specifically because of their enthusiasm for Junebug and deep internet experience. We think this is an amazing opportunity to vastly expand what Junebug offers to our members as well as our reader base.”

The group will continue working with the existing Seattle-based editorial and member services team and will be looking to expand both their Austin and Seattle offices. Co-founders Blair deLaubenfels and Christy Weber will stay involved in the business during a transition period and continue to work with Junebug on projects in the future.

“Over the past eight years, Christy and I have come to truly love working one-on-one as small business consultants, helping our clients improve their businesses and reach their creative goals,” adds Co-founder Blair deLaubenfels. “This is the perfect way for us to continue working in the wedding and photography industries doing exactly what we love to do, while helping Junebug reach new heights of its own.”

Launched on July 1st, 2006, Junebug Weddings was founded by former wedding photographers Blair deLaubenfels, Christy Weber and Kim Bamberg. Junebug makes wedding planning easier for couples everywhere by providing the most trusted, highly-vetted recommendation “Hotlists” of wedding professionals found online as well as encouraging and educational editorial content with an emphasis on extraordinary imagery and personal style.
