Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail's annual Spring Sip & Savor event is being held May 3-4, 2014. As vineyards wake to the sun and warmth of May, attendees enjoy delicious wine and food pairings at each of the 22 participating wineries on the wine trail and help support a regional charity.

For added fun, attendees are encouraged to participate in the Sip o’ de Mayo Hat Contest to win one of many prizes from the wineries as well as the fabulous grand prize of two nights lodging at The Homestead and two gift certificates to any wine trail event along the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail or to the Traverse City Wine & Art Festival.

Tickets to Sip & Savor are $35 and include wine and food pairings at each winery, a commemorative glass, a $5 gift certificate that can be used at any participating winery and a $5 donation to the Bruce Simpson Scholarship Program. Tickets are limited and typically sell out early.

In addition, many area lodging partners are offering packages that include both overnight accommodations and tickets to the event, and transportation packages are available as well.

The event takes place on Saturday from 11:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m. Attendees take a self-guided tour to any of the wineries they choose. Visit http://www.lpwines.com/spring for more details, packages and to purchase tickets.
