IEP Netherlands: Thinking Style Crucial For Physical Health? In Search of 'Healthy Thinking'
Nijmegen, The Netherlands (PRWEB) April 16, 2014 -- Dutch psychologists have started in March researching the connection between thinking style and physical health. Using the meta programs test MindSonar, they have started profiling people who either lived a long and healthy life or who have recovered from serious illnesses remarkable quickly. Based on scientific literature, they suspect that thinking style (as expressed by meta programs and values) may play an important role in physical health. The aim of the study is to explore and understand this relationship.
Says Dutch psychologist Jaap Hollander, associated with the Dutch Institute for Eclectic psychology: "Science has shown that genetics are responsible to a fairly large extent for longevity and recovery speed; however, we suspect that there may be a substantial leeway in the extent of this determination. We are hoping to show that thinking style is an important determinant as well, within the limits set by genetics."
The researchers are searching cooperation internationally with other people interested in the relationship between thinking style and health as well as with sporting organizations and associations for the elderly, helping them identify and profile what they call 'longevity experts' and 'recovery experts'. They even opened a web page (http://www.iepdoc.nl/sign-healthy-thinking-project/) where people who consider themselves either longevity experts or recovery experts, can sign up to participate in the experiment directly. After participants have filled out their profile, they will receive an extensive report on their thinking style free of charge.
MindSonar, the instrument used to measure the longevity and recovery experts, measures 13 thinking style elements called meta programs and 7 value categories called Graves drives (http://www.mindsonar.info/mindsonar-home-page/).
