Avi Gvili, author of Life & Love & the Like: Stories from the Everyday, discussed his collection of short stories to congregants of Temple Emanu-El in one of a series of culture events held at the temple. The discussion, which took place in English and conversational Hebrew, ranged from Avi Gvili's literary influences to the place of his birth, Israel, and what it means to him as a writer in NYC. Temple Emanu-El was included in the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. Born in Israel and raised in New York City, Avi Gvili is an educator and the author of the young adult fantasy novel, Samson Turner & the Legend of Hercules.
