Engineer cum Artist from Cupertino to Exhibit at 25th International Invitational Salon of Small Works Organized by New Arts Program, Kutztown, PA
Cupertino, CA (PRWEB) March 31, 2014 -- For 35 years straight the New Arts Program has been bringing cutting-edge visual, performing and literary artists and critics to the Lehigh Valley, Berks County. Included in the program are performances, dialogues, exhibitions, and most importantly, the consultations, an avenue for rural artists and public to meet personally, one-to-one, with today’s most provocative and insightful artists from around the world.
The access to major talents, with the program as a conduit, cultivates direct dialogue between artists and persons interested in the arts. Contemporary art performances and exhibitions are held in intimate, relaxed professional settings. One such example is the International Invitational Salon of Small Works, a salon-style show featuring over 200 wall works by artists from around the country. This exhibition is always a highlight of the season and is held every summer beginning in May. Each artist is represented by one work limited to 200 square inches including frame. Videos have become a growing attraction at the Invitational Salon. The show has been exceptional every year featuring international names in art e.g., Jody Pinto, Rosanna Martinez, Carolee Thea and of course this year India, US resident artist cum engineer, Ms. Sujata Tibrewala.
Sujata Tibrewala, a self-taught artist, was trained as a postgraduate electrical engineer but gave up her engineering career for her first love, art, about three years ago. She now uses her engineering background and knowledge of science to spread art and issues close to her heart. After having successful solos at venues including University of Illinois and Life ForceArts, Chicago, Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi, and Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur, Sujata moved to Memphis, TN in 2010. Here she served as docent and adult art education advisor at Brooks’s Museum. In 2011 she moved to St. Louis, MO, where she exhibited with the Regional Commission of Arts St Louis, Gateway Gallery and Mindworks Gallery, Chesterfield, MO. She is also a member of the St. Louis Artists' Guild, Chesterfield Arts, Art World Association, Women's Caucus for the Arts and MySLART. Sujata has won many awards right from her school days, such as Creative Artists Society, Prasar Yagna: The Advertising Club and The ART Slant, New York. Her art has gotten rave reviews in many leading newspapers of India and USA including Lake View Patch, Chicago, ST Louis Beacon, Alive St Louis, Hindustan Times, Indian Express, Deccan herald, The Pioneer, Punjab Kesari, Bangalore Mirror, and Rajasthan Patrika. Her art reviews and interviews have appeared on DD national, P7 news, BNN, Tv9 and I have a Voice. Presently, Sujata resides in the Chicago, IL area and is a member of the Naperville Art League and Woman Made Gallery, Chicago.
