First of its Kind Prescription Drug Storage Solution Unveiled to Keep Families, Kids and Communities Safe
Newtown, CT (PRWEB) April 25, 2014 -- Prescription drug abuse is a public health crisis. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) states that the number one drug threat in the U.S. is not the major drug cartels – but our own pharmaceutical drug industry:
• Every eight minutes, a child is treated in the Emergency Department for a prescription drug or over the counter drug poisoning.
• For the first time in our country, more people are dying from drug overdoses than in fatal car accidents.
• Ninety percent of all teens who abused pharmaceutical drugs obtain their drugs from the home medicine cabinet or from their friends.
National prevention organizations and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) tell families, parents and communities to “Lock up Your Prescription Medications”. The obvious question, “How?” Professionals recommend prescription drugs be secured to protect our kids, but provide no solution to accomplish the goal.
RxArmory is that solution. RxArmory is a simple cost-effective way to lock up pharmaceutical prescription drugs in the home medicine cabinet.
“Kids are dying every day from drugs removed right out of the home medicine cabinet,” says Shelly Mowrey, founder of Drug-Free Arizona. “RxArmory offers parents, grandparents and families peace of mind knowing their medications are safe and out of harm’s way.”
RxArmory was developed by former Supervisory DEA Agent Doug Hebert. “Having worked over 26 years with the Drug Enforcement Administration, I have seen firsthand the devastation and collateral damage of drug abuse, particularly when it involves children. Kids have easy access to prescription drugs. I wanted to develop a product that would make a difference and keep kids safe. This product is about reducing access and saving lives.”
Hebert and Mowrey teamed up with entrepreneur and RxArmory LLC President, Jim Miller, to develop the RxArmory. RxArmory LLC subsequently partnered with Zephyr Fluid Solutions, a U.S. company, to bring the RxArmory to the market.
RxArmory is constructed of an engineered polymer material and a high quality dual combination key lock. RxArmory requires no tools for installation. The consumer removes RxArmory from the box, and permanently attaches it to the inside of the medicine cabinet with enclosed 3M® industrial strength supergrip adhesive. The RxArmory fits into most cabinets, vanities or drawers.
RxArmory is committed to promoting a safe environment by providing a solution to securing prescription drugs in the home from accidental use by children, or intentional misuse by acquaintances and visitors. RxArmory offers a partnership program for nonprofit organizations. Nonprofits can receive a percentage of the sale for every RxArmory sold through the nonprofit organization.
