Alliance for Women in Media to Co-Sponsor “Conversations in Journalism” Conference by Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism
McLean, VA (PRWEB) March 31, 2014 -- The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) is proud to co-sponsor the ”Conversations in Journalism” conference taking place on Saturday, April 5, 2014, in New York City. Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism’s first student-run conference is a day of women-led discussions where burgeoning media leaders can ask questions and spark discussions about the craft, technology, and prospects of journalism.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this inaugural event to discuss critical issues and the new media climate, all while highlighting and celebrating the work of our colleagues,” said Sylvia Strobel, AWM’s Interim CEO.
Saira Khan, a graduate student in the School of Journalism and Vice President of Women in Media, noted, “This conference isn’t just about addressing women’s issues, it’s about giving a voice to women in the media who are leaders and innovators in their respective fields. We hope that young professionals -- men and women -- will attend and help us start a conversation that we plan to keep going well after the conference is over.”
