The unpredictability and uncertainty of the ocean teaches us to be flexible and respectful as we need to be to fully enjoy life. Surfing is very meditative, and falls in line with what is taught in traditional recovery methods

Surf therapy is regarded as a holistic and healthy way for those suffering from addiction and alcoholism to learn the discipline of meditation, as well as how to cope with the unpredictability of life. The ocean itself has been known to have therapeutic and healing powers. Jennifer Dawson, co-Founder of SURF and Owner/Instructor at Blue Line says, “The unpredictability and uncertainty of the ocean teaches us to be flexible and respectful as we need to be to fully enjoy life. Surfing is very meditative, and falls in line with what is taught in traditional recovery methods.”

The collaboration not only allows exposure to this therapy for those in need, but also raises awareness for the drug and alcohol abuse epidemic in the professional surf community.
