New Intensive English Program to Open at Chadron State College
Chadron, NE (PRWEB) April 02, 2014 -- Chadron State College (CSC) announced this month that it will open a BridgePathways® center on its Chadron, NE, campus this summer. One of four universities to open a BridgePathways center this year, CSC recognizes the importance of, and is committed to, providing its international students with the specialized tools needed for a successful U.S university education and cultural experience.
A public college, and part of the Nebraska State College System, CSC is located in the northern part of the state in the beautiful Pine Ridge region. CSC is located just one hour’s drive from Mount Rushmore, and near other natural attractions such as Chadron State Park and the Sandhills of Nebraska.
Chadron State’s academic programs have been growing, and the school now offers programs and courses in 65 areas of study at the undergraduate level, as well as eight master’s degree programs at the graduate level. The five majors attracting the most students are business administration, education, biology-health sciences, justice studies and rangeland management.
CSC is excited to provide its international students with the further benefit of a BridgePathways center, which offers an intensive academic English curriculum focused on critical writing, with coursework designed to prepare students for university assignments. Students also practice essential speaking and listening skills needed for successful participation in discussions and lectures.
BridgePathways at CSC will have 6 intakes throughout the year, offering 8-week terms, and will accept students at an intermediate level. Qualified students accepted to the program will receive conditional admission from CSC, allowing them to enroll in the college upon successful completion of the BridgePathways program.
Tamsyn Carey, Project Director for the Market Development Office at CSC states that “CSC is very committed to international education and to providing international students with the opportunity to develop their academic knowledge and skills while simultaneously preparing them to live, co-exist, and excel in a global environment. The many personal connections our international students make with our domestic students provide a diverse social and cultural viewpoint that enhances the campus, community, and students’ learning experience.”
Cultural and social immersion in the United States is also essential to the BridgePathways program. Bridge students at CSC will be housed on-campus and be provided with structured activities designed to get them actively participating and integrated with campus life and the community. In addition to having full access to the college’s facilities, BridgePathways students can participate in any of the more than 70 student clubs and organizations.
BridgePathways at CSC will offer unparalleled access for international students seeking a degree from a U.S. university. CSC is truly passionate about providing a first-rate education at a reasonable price for its students, who receive unrivaled quality for the dollar. International students can enroll in full-time academic study, live on campus, and receive full board for less than $7,000 per semester.
