Henderson ISD’s “Sarah Murphy Field Day” sponsored by Mostyn Moreno Foundation
Henderson, Texas (PRWEB) April 01, 2014 -- The Glenda Jean Mostyn and Joe E. Moreno Educational Foundation (Mostyn Moreno Foundation) is sponsoring the “Sarah Jane Murphy Field Day” for its fifth consecutive year. The field day is held each spring by Henderson ISD and includes several area school districts. Over 300 students enrolled in special education services will participate in special Olympic styled events.
The field day honors 1993 HISD graduate Sarah Murphy. Sarah was well known and loved in the community. She passed away in 2008.
“I remember Sarah as always smiling and friendly,” stated Monte Osburn, executive director of the Mostyn Moreno Foundation. “Through the exceptional life skills taught to her by her school and the love of her family, Sarah personifies the foundation’s core belief – that given the opportunity, children with special needs can flourish. We hope that our ongoing involvement in this field day will continue to honor Sarah’s memory and provide the same opportunities to other children in the community.”
The Mostyn Moreno Foundation helps Texas children with special needs by supporting programs that stress growth and individual development. Along with rodeo activities, the Foundation also supports “Spa Days” that prepare girls with disabilities for the first day of school or prom. If needed, the Mostyn Moreno Foundation can also offer more substantial support to families of those with special needs.

About the Mostyn Moreno Foundation
The Mostyn Moreno Foundation was created in 2006 by Houston trial lawyers Amber and Steve Mostyn to honor the memory of two caring Texans: Glenda Jean Mostyn, mother, grandmother, sister, and East Texas educator and Texas State Representative Joe E. Moreno, son, brother, friend, and legislator. Both cared very deeply about education and providing the best for children of Texas.
