The leading US browser tool bar and add-on developers, BestToolBars have announced the results of their latest research project. Focusing once again on one of the team’s areas of expertise – browser plug in development for charity cashback companies – BestToolBars has studied the top five emerging trends in the field.
In its research report, entitled ‘Top 5 Trends in Charity Cashback Browser Plugins’ the plug in developers have focused on the emerging functions that look set to define the industry over the next few months. It carried out the study after determining that while the charity cash back business is booming, users are becoming increasingly spoilt for choice, making them extremely discerning when it comes to allowing some of their valuable browser real estate to be taken up.
In order to win the hearts, minds and screens of those users, charity cash back companies are increasingly required to innovate and experiment in order to rack up user downloads. Consequently, the top spot on the list was charity cashback toolbars increasingly giving way to charity cashback plugin buttons.

The second trend was determined to be cross-browser compatibility, which means that development should support at least Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers.
In third place on the list of trends is going mobile. This is based on a ComScore report which suggested that in Q4 of 2013 more than half of all mobile users used their device to look for charity cashback coupons and deals.
The penultimate emerging trend was making plugins webstore ready, with BestToolBars noting that as browser companies compete for market share, their acceptable plug in criteria get tougher. On the back of this, it’s essential for developers to keep up to date with ever changing requirements to keep plug ins compatible and webstore ready.
Finally, improved browser extension stability is increasingly important making enhanced testing and stability the fifth emerging trend in BestToolBars’ findings.
