Associate Medical Director Brian Morris MD, JD, MBA, MPH, Receives Extended Appointment to FMCSA Medical Review Board
Woburn, MA (PRWEB) April 02, 2014 -- AllOne Health is proud to announce the extended appointment of Associate Medical Director Brian Morris, MD, JD, MBA, MPH to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Medical Review Board. Dr. Morris has received an unprecedented second two-year appointment. The typical appointment to the five-person board consists of one term for two years and very rarely is an appointment extended.
The Medical Review Board (MRB) of the FMCSA serves to provide an expanse of medical expertise when recommending physical qualification standards for commercial motor vehicle operators. The MRB has tackled a variety of challenging topics including: cochlear implants, peripheral vision, hours of service for motorcoach drivers, and the use of prescription narcotics.
Dr. Morris reflected on what this appointment means for him, “It is an honor to serve as a member of FMCSA’s Medical Review Board. As a Certified Medical Examiner myself, I face daily challenges in my effort to ensure that commercial motor vehicle drivers are medically fit to perform their jobs. The MRB offers me the unique opportunity to shape medical policy at FMCSA and thereby contribute toward improving the safety of America’s highways.”
Deborah Talbot, President of AllOne Health, spoke about the pride AllOne Health takes in the distinguished accomplishments of its medical leadership. "We are so pleased about Dr. Morris's re-appointment to the FMCSA medical Advisory Board for a third term. Dr. Morris's extensive background in occupational health, coupled with his hands-on experience overseeing our nation-wide network of DOT examiners, provides a practical viewpoint about the implementation of regulatory changes that he brings to the FMCSA along with his medical expertise.”
Dr. Morris received his Bachelor's and Medical Degrees from Brown University. He received a Master's Degree in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. His medical resume includes an internship at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, MA, a Diplomat from the National Board of Medical Examiners, and a Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. In 1991, Dr. Morris earned a Juris Doctorate from the New England School of Law and was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar that same year. In 1993, he was Board-certified in Legal Medicine. Dr. Morris has been certified as a Medical Review Officer by the Medical Review Officer Certification Council and became Board-certified in Occupational Medicine following an occupational medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2008, Dr. Morris received his second Master's Degree in Business Administration from Yale University.
