Covington, KY (PRWEB) April 01, 2014 -- Don Nageleisen is a lifelong resident of Kenton County. He was born in Taylor Mill, Kentucky. He went to school at St. Anthony’s in Taylor Mill and graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1979. After he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Northern Kentucky University, he attended Chase College of Law. In 1989, following his graduation from Law School, Nageleisen went straight to work for the then County Attorney, John Elfers, as an assistant prosecutor.
While Nageleisen was working as an assistant County Attorney in 1989, representing the people of Kenton County, his two opponents in the race, Sharif Abdrabbo and Stacey Tapke, where nowhere near Kenton County. They weren't even in Kentucky. They weren't even in Law School.
According to his LinkedIn profile (https://www.linkedin.com/pub/sharif-abdrabbo/2/41/614) , Abdrabbo was attending the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT in 1990. He worked in New York, Maryland, Louisiana and New York, before attending Chase College of Law in Kentucky in 2002.
“I absolutely respect Sharif’s Coast Guard Service. However, while he was dutifully serving the Coast Guard in Louisiana, New York, Connecticut and Maryland, I was here in Kenton County dutifully serving the people of this County as a prosecutor and as a private attorney”. Nageleisen said in a recent interview.
Tapke, who currently serves as an Assistant to the outgoing County Attorney, Garry Edmondson, attended Purdue University between 1996 and 2000, according to her LinkedIn profile (https://www.linkedin.com/pub/stacy-tapke/52/885/224) . She attended Law School at the University of Maryland from 2001 to 2004. According to that same site, she has been employed with Edmondson since 2004.
According to the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance Quarterly Reports for December 2013 (http://www.kref.state.ky.us/krefsearch/), Tapke had raised over $17,000 as far back as the first quarter of 2013. As of the end of 2013 she had already raised over $42,000.00, compared to Nageleisen and Abdraddo, who did not raised any money at all in 2013.
“Ms. Tapke is certainly a formidable opponent when it comes to fundraising and financial resources. She has a significant war chest. But again, while she was attending college and law school in Indiana and Maryland, I was here in Kenton County working for Kenton County and its citizens,” Nageleisen said. “Her family connections and her experience in Edmondson’s Office are noteworthy, but I’m not sure that translates into a candidate who truly can serve the people of this county."
Nageleisen’s accomplishments over the past 25 years in Kenton County are noteworthy. He prosecuted DUI’s, child support arrearages, bad checks and other misdemeanors while serving under John Elfers, the former Kenton County Attorney. As a private attorney Nageleisen successfully recovered millions of dollars for civil rights victims against jails and corrupt government officials. He was recognized in United States Weekly as a renowned civil rights attorney. He has maintained a private practice for over 25 years, while raising his family on their farm in Independence, Kentucky.
“Don’s experience as a prosecutor and as a private attorney, as well as his lifelong attachment to Kenton County, uniquely qualifies him for the role of the next Kenton County Attorney," said one supporter at a recent campaign event. "While the other candidates were finishing law school and working in other states, Don was right here in Kenton County serving the people as a prosecutor and a private attorney. “
"My lifelong connections to Kenton County and my 25 years of service as an assistant prosecutor and private lawyer in Kenton County make me the most qualified candidate," he said in a recent interview. "I hope that the good people of Kenton County will give me that chance on May 20, 2014."
