First Enrollment Closing is Not the Goal Line Says the National Alliance for Hispanic Health
Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 01, 2014 -- “To reduce the number of uninsured takes more than enrollment. There is a huge learning curve to know what insurance is and how to use it,” said Dr. Jane L. Delgado, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health (the Alliance). She added, “Alliance staff worked on the last day of enrollment till past 1 AM answering calls from people throughout the country.”
While the debate still focuses on partisan marksmanship about the pros and cons of the Affordable Care Act the Alliance targeted informing as many consumers as possible about their options. Alliance staff had conversations with over 20,000 people. Some key insights from these conversations included:
• When it comes to health, a trusted source is essential.
• It is important to give information in every way possible.
• While technology is important it is only one tool.
• Texting and mobile phones are important methods for delivering information.
The Alliance promised to expand its Buena Salud Club to provide more resources for consumers and will continue to offer support through its helpline 1-866-783-2645 (1-866- Su-Familia).
