Apress and Intel Bring Order to DAM Systems with “Digital Asset Management: Content Architectures, Project Management, and Creating Order out of Media Chaos.”
New York, NY (PRWEB) April 01, 2014 -- The sharp and steady rise in digital documentation in the workplace has brought about the rapidly-growing field of digital asset management. DAMs are complex systems that create numerous opportunities and challenges, require substantial investment, and demand capable, specialized personnel. “Digital Asset Management: Content Architectures, Project Management, and Creating Order out of Media Chaos”—newly published by Apress in partnership with Intel—is an invaluable resource for those who are planning a digital asset management system or interested in becoming digital asset managers.
Author Elizabeth Ferguson Keathley is a board member of the DAM Foundation and has chaired both the Human Resources and Education committees. She has written, taught, and been an active part of conferences related to the arrangement, description, preservation, and access of digital information for more than ten years. From the difference between DAMs, CMSs, and WCMs to how DAM workflows will improve the modern workplace, Keathley explains the purpose of digital asset management systems and why an organization might need one. “Elizabeth translates the complex concepts of DAM solutions into an accessible and guided educational experience that builds understanding,” says Jeff Lawrence, Engagement Director at Celerity, a business acceleration consultancy.
“Digital Asset Management” guides readers through the concerns involved in selecting, staffing, and maintaining a DAM. Keathley provides readers with a solid base in the common concerns, both legal and technical, in launching a complex DAM capable of providing visual search results and workflow options. Containing sample job models, case studies, return on investment models, and quotes from many top digital asset managers, the book is a detailed resource for the vocabulary and procedures associated with digital asset management. It delivers the most useful information to those who find themselves in the bewildering position of formulating access control lists, auditing metadata, and consolidating information silos into a very new sort of workplace management tool – the DAM.
Librarians, archivists, students, IT staff, project managers, and anyone involved with companies with a large volume of digital assets will benefit from the insights of “Digital Asset Management.”
