Rissy Roo's Helps Students Raise Money for Prom with Prom Dress Fashion Shows

In order to keep the costs of prom tickets affordable for students, high schools often have to raise money to throw the event. Rissy Roo's helps with this by lending prom dresses to students so they can have fashion shows.

For many high school students, prom is a long-awaited event, but it's one that can be somewhat expensive for high schools to have. Rissy Roo's, an online and brick-and-mortar prom dress store based out of Linwood, NJ, is making it possible for local high schools to raise money for prom by lending the students prom dresses and stylists, allowing them to put on a fashion show. The students get to see the latest prom fashions for 2014 while partaking in a fun event and keeping their prom ticket prices affordable.

Schools that participate in the fashion shows send a few girls to the store so that they can choose and be fitted for dresses. On the night of the event, the dresses are brought to the high school along with a few stylists from the store that help the models get dressed. The girls then go on stage, modeling the wide variety of gowns to their family and peers. Some high schools combine the fashion show with another event for a fun-filled night that draws in a lot of attendees.

"The pre-prom fashion shows are a great opportunity for the high school students to raise money and excitement for prom," says Marissa Sharp, founder of Rissy Roo's. "It's seen as a rite of passage in most schools to be a model in the prom fashion show, so we're honored to be selected to donate dresses for the shows. We love interacting with the girls and helping them have a memorable night."

Rissy Roo's has been putting on these fashion shows for upwards of ten years. Over the past month, shows were held at Holy Spirit High School, Cape May Tech, and Oakcrest High School. On April 8th, Lower Cape May Regional High school will be having their fashion show, followed by one at Pinelands Regional High School on April 14th.
