AirSage PASS Scholarship Award Recipients Announced
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 02, 2014 -- Two members of Young Professionals in Transportation (YPT) have been named as recipients of the AirSage® PASS: Professional Advancement and Success Scholarship. They’ll use the funding for educational opportunities and to advance their careers.
Presented quarterly by AirSage—a pioneer in digital population analytics and the largest provider of consumer travel trends and population movement intelligence in the U.S.—AirSage PASS funds are awarded exclusively to young transportation professionals who have a drive to further develop their career through training, conferences, seminars or other methods of advancement. Depending on need and requirements, the funds help cover the cost of registration, tuition, travel expenses and other fees.
“As a provider of advanced transportation planning technology and data, AirSage wants to connect promising young minds with educational opportunities that can grow their knowledge and advance the industry as a whole,” said Cy Smith, Founder and CEO of Air Sage. “The AirSage PASS is about empowering the next generation to become better transportation professionals and thought leaders in their industry.”
As awareness about the scholarship has grown, AirSage has seen an increase in the number and quality of PASS applicants. The second quarter award recipients for 2014 are:
Andrea Barbour
Barbour, a recent graduate of the University of Memphis, is using AirSage PASS funds to prepare for the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) exam. Barbour works as a planner for Parsons Brinckerhoff in Nashville, Tenn. and will take a preparation course in order to pursue her seven-year dream of becoming a certified planner. The AICP requires their certified planners to meet rigorous standards, cultivate their expertise through continuing education and serve community interests. “I am looking forward to becoming a certified planner, but I know that taking the test can be daunting and I will need additional help. Being able to take this test preparation course could make a huge difference in my professional advancement.”
Tony Laidig
Laidig’s AirSage PASS award will cover the costs to attend the WriteTheDocs conference in Portland, Ore. The two-day event will focus on technical writing and delivery in order to improve the art and science of documentation. As a Systems Engineering Manager for the Metropolitan Transit Authority in New York, Laidig is responsible for writing documentation at every stage of a project as it is being prepared for delivery. He believes clear and concise communication will help his transportation projects succeed, “I intend to use the conference as an opportunity to bring current best practices in documentation to my group and my organization. I am especially grateful to AirSage for providing this opportunity.”
The submission process for the third quarter AirSage PASS award is now open. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM (Eastern), June 6, 2013.
