Mayor of Brisbane Clarke Conway Issues Official Proclamation at 7 Mile House In Support of Jazz Appreciation Month
Brisbane, CA (PRWEB) April 01, 2014 -- SUBHEADING: 7 Mile House Celebrates Jazz Appreciation Month in April With A Month-long Celebration of Performances, Talks And Awards To Honor Bay Area Jazz Musicians And Supporters
On April 1, 2014 at 7 p.m. at 7 Mile House, Mayor of Brisbane, the Honorable Clarke Conway, will issue an official proclamation designating April 2014 as Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) and launching a month-long program of live performances, awards and presentations by Bay Area jazz influencers to draw greater public attention to the extraordinary heritage and history of jazz and its importance as an original American art form.
This year’s theme at 7 Mile House, “keeping the traditions of the giants of jazz” will celebrate the classic sounds of the great American jazz masters such as Ella Fitzgerald, Horace Silver, Chet Baker and more through performances led by renowned Bay Area musicians Vince Lateano, Dave Bendigkeit and Al Molina whose bands play regularly at 7 Mile House on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays, respectively, in its weekly “J:ust J:azz” series.
In addition to the above performances, 7 Mile House’s Jazz Appreciation Month program will honor individuals who have contributed to Jazz in the Bay Area such as former owners of Jazz at Pearl’s, Sonny Buxton and Pearl Wong and popular local non-profit jazz radio station, KCSM FM 91.1. 7 Mile House will also conduct a jazz photography exhibit by Jessica Levant who recently published her photo book, San Francisco Bay Area Jazz & Bluesicians, and renowned jazz photographer, Greg Toland; literature readings reflecting the days of jazz in San Francisco, jazz fan appreciation night, bring your own jazz vinyl record happy hour and more.
7 Mile House joins proponents such as the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History and the Jazz Journalists Association in the celebration of Jazz History Month with the mission of encouraging people of all ages to celebrate and appreciate jazz as an American cultural heritage.
7 Mile House launches Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 7 p.m. All events are free of charge and are held at 7 Mile House Sports Bar & Grill in Brisbane.
