Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 02, 2014
Premier, Inc., a leading healthcare improvement company uniting an alliance of more than 2,900 U.S. hospitals and nearly 100,000 other providers, has awarded a group purchasing agreement to Kit Check™ as the exclusive provider of RFID based medication tracking for pharmacy kits. In 2013, Kit Check was named by Premier as a “Breakthrough Technology Product.” This designation led to the contract arrangement that makes Kit Check’s RFID and cloud-based software solution available to all Premier member hospitals at specially negotiated pricing and terms.
“Almost three thousand Premier affiliated hospitals can now purchase Kit Check with the confidence that comes with a recommendation by one of the nation’s top group purchasing organizations. Qualified hospitals can receive Kit Check’s pharmacy kit automation software and hardware free of charge and simply purchase RFID-based medication tags through their Premier contract. The solution is designed to deliver operational savings while enhancing safety and is already conveniently available through the top three medical supply wholesalers. Now Premier affiliated hospitals also have the choice to purchase through a pre-negotiated contract,” said Kit Check Vice President Doug Zurawski, Pharm.D.
About RFID Medication Tags
Kit Check RFID medication tags include a unique radio frequency identifier and a printable area for medication information in a single universal format that supports the wide variety of medication packaging types used in pharmacy kits. Kit Check customers can now order through their Premier contract.
Kit Check’s RFID medication tags are key enablers of pharmacy staff efficiency as well as reduced drug budgets and inventory levels. Kit Check tags are applied as adhesive labels and allow pharmacy technicians to identify hundreds of pharmacy kit medications by unique identifiers, NDC, lot number and expiration dates in seconds. This capability enables users to restock hospital pharmacy kits more accurately and 90% faster than the manual processes used for decades. The tags also support other hospital pharmacy tasks such as recall management and diversion detection.
