KegWorks Honors April Fools’ Day Tradition With Polar Vortex Inspired Homebrew Ingredient Kit
Buffalo, NY (PRWEB) April 02, 2014 -- Yesterday, KegWorks, the Buffalo-NY based purveyor of “Tools For Drinking” (including a wide selection of home brewing equipment, ingredients, and supplies) unveiled the most recent iteration of a longstanding tradition at the company: the April Fools’ Day joke. This year’s prank was inspired by the Polar Vortex of January 2014 and KegWorks’ own love of homebrewed hijinks.
“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved the idea of April Fools Day,” says David Rivers, KegWorks President and Founder. “It’s a real chance to be creative and have a little good-natured fun. As a company, I think it’s important that we don’t lose sight of that playful energy. I believe that customers are drawn to a company that has an actual personality and isn’t afraid to show it.”
The KegWorks creative team considered several ideas for this year’s prank before finally alighting on a can’t miss premise: a fake homebrew ingredient kit satirizing the near-record amounts of snowfall associated with this winter’s Polar Vortex. And thus was born the KegWorks Polar Vortex Buffalo Stout Homebrew Ingredient Kit.
This homebrew kit “features” several unique items, including a 5-gallon bucket of snow, untreated road salts to add a “sharp bite” to your brew, and even hops grown in the seemingly bottomless potholes formed on streets around Western New York in the wake of the Polar Vortex. Of course, when customers click the "Add to Cart" button, they realize that the only thing this kit actually features is a good deal of imagination.
Trisha Charles, KegWorks’ VP of Product, says, “We wanted to come up with something that was true to who we are and what we do. And since we’re a Buffalo company that caters to homebrewers of all levels, this seemed like a natural fit. Plus it was just a lot of fun.”
