Beverly Hills, Calif. (PRWEB) April 02, 2014 -- Celebrity skincare guru Sonya Dakar and Wish Upon a Teen (WUaT), the only nonprofit organization devoted to making a difference in the lives of teens who are living with life-threatening illnesses, hosted a Spa Event on Friday, March 28th to pay tribute to teens battling cancer. Eight teens attended the event to escape from their daily challenges for a few hours, enjoying an afternoon of beauty and pampering. Celebrities such as Chord Overstreet (Fox’s Glee), Julie Benz (Syfy’s Defiance), Briga Heelan (TBS’s Ground Floor), Tiphany Adams (Sundance’s Push Girls), Aimee Carrero (FX’s Young Americans), and Joyful Drake (BET’s Let’s Stay Together) were on-hand to show their support and help make the day one that the teens will never forget.
The participating teen patients of Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA experienced an array of pampering at the Sonya Dakar Skin Clinic in Beverly Hills including:
• Skin care products and facials by word-class skin care specialist Sonya Dakar
• Make up application and cosmetic gifts from Stila Cosmetics an Ardell Lashes
• Hair education and styling from hairstylist Paul Ohana
• Organic lunches provided by Klean LA and mini donuts by Fonuts
• Luxurious manicures by China Glaze
• Gifts from Sketchers, Wade Belle, Sole Bicycles, Milk & Honey Shoes, Sugarfina, Bloom2Bloom, Soxiety, and Cakery Creation
Sonya Dakar was on-hand to teach the teens about the best way to care for their skin, while singer Cailee Rae performed an acoustic set.
“As a mother and grandmother my heart goes out to these amazing young women and men who are battling cancer,” says Sonya Dakar. “Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to treat them to a much deserved day of pampering and to help them realize how beautiful and inspiring they truly are. I am thrilled to partner with Wish Upon A Teen and raise awareness about this incredible organization.”
Michelle Soto, President of Wish Upon a Teen says, “Our annual spa day is more than just make up and manicures for these teens. This event provides teenagers that are battling life-threatening illnesses an opportunity to meet and socialize with other teens that have and/or are going through similar experiences.”
