Academy of Model Aeronautics Named as a 2014 Pilot’s Choice Awards Finalist
Muncie, IN (PRWEB) April 02, 2014 -- Today, at the SUN ‘n FUN International Fly-In and Expo, the Lightspeed Aviation Foundation recognized the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) as one of the 15 charities selected as a finalists for the Pilot’s Choice Awards program. The Academy has been selected from hundreds of nominees, to benefit from a grant of up to $10,000.
Each year, the Lightspeed Aviation Foundation recognizes a select group of deserving aviation nonprofit organizations nominated by members of the aviation community. To be eligible for a Pilot’s Choice Award, a charity must be a 501(c)(3) or Canadian Revenue Agency registered organization that is “committed to growing the pilot community or using their gifts for compassion and service to others.”
The Academy has several benevolent programs that were developed to enhance, preserve, build, and promote model aviation. “We are honored to be one of the 15 finalists, and part of this deserving group. Our leadership, staff, and volunteers work hard every day to work toward the Academy’s mission of providing leadership, organization, competition, communication, representation, education, and scientific/technical development to modelers. We would like to thank the Lightspeed Aviation Foundation for this honor,” said AMA Executive Director, Dave Mathewson.
Online voting is a pivotal part of determining which organizations receive grants, and the amounts awarded. You can play a decisive role in the selection process by visiting LightspeedAviationFoundation.org and voting for the AMA. Anyone can vote, so please encourage others to do the same. The vote tally and ranking will be published regularly on the Lightspeed Aviation Foundation Facebook page, and the Pilot’s Choice Award winners will be announced in November.
