Narra Systems Announces nFAST, a Cloud-Based Automation and Orchestration Engine
Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) April 02, 2014 -- Narra Systems, Inc. announces the general availability of nFAST, based on their open, cloud-centric, network control-plane platform, CLOUD-CONTROL. CLOUD-CONTROL enables nFAST to provide a centralized controller to perform automation and orchestration tasks on both real and virtual elements. As a centralized controller, nFAST simplifies management of both legacy network elements as well as the latest SDN and OpenFlow enabled devices. In addition, while many management and control systems tout provisioning capabilities, nFAST provides more with real-time network attribute discovery, power management, and performance monitoring. nFAST’s capabilities enable true network agility and optimization while reducing energy use and improving margins.
Providing a common platform that supports the needs of multiple market segments allows Narra to create a building block approach tailored to each customer. “For example, while nFAST currently targets cloud automation and orchestration for lab environments, we are building an optimized version for cloud orchestration of enterprise networks that will act as a controller for legacy or proprietary technologies as well as open systems, such as SDN,” explained Narra’s CEO, Reuel Gatus.
Narra’s nFAST currently orchestrates small and large test lab cloud environments through its web portal, which can also be accessed remotely through mobile devices. This allows smaller labs to build larger, more complex, test environments. Meanwhile, larger labs can use the web portal to provide test access to remote sites increasing productivity, or they can use it as a new, revenue-generating tool offering test access to their customers.
With hundreds of seat licenses in use, Cisco Systems is already seeing the benefits that nFAST has to offer. “Transforming engineering labs to increase the speed and agility of our software development process has been a key focus area for our development labs. Delivering Testbeds-as-a-Service (TaaS), based on Narra Systems' nFAST, has enabled us to optimize capital equipment utilization, while significantly reducing our space and power footprint. We are delighted to have partnered with Narra Systems on this critical initiative, and look forward to continuing the engagement with their talented team,” said Cisco's Kiran Kane, SRG Senior Director.
With Narra’s CLOUD-CONTROL platform, the tools are already in place for orchestrating and optimizing large enterprise and data center cloud networks reducing costs, energy usage, and space. “nFAST has already achieved this in the test lab market reducing costs, energy usage, and space thanks to its ability to discover, provision, monitor, and optimize real and virtual resources. Going forward Narra will help customers manage infrastructure to build the most scalable, agile, reliable, and cost-effective network possible,” said Reuel Gatus, CEO, Narra Systems, Inc.
