Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) April 03, 2014
Paragon at Columbia Overlook, a brand new apartment community in Columbia, Maryland, was awarded Gold Certification under the National Green Building Standard (“NGBS”). The NGBS requires green building practices in all six ratings categories – design; resource efficiency; energy efficiency; water efficiency; indoor quality; and operations.
“Building ‘green’ means using environmentally conscious design and construction practices,” said Jonathan Mayers, President of Chesapeake Realty Partners (CRP), developer of Paragon at Columbia Overlook. “But receiving Gold Certification requires exceptionally high standards and is quite an honor.”
“Residents benefit from ‘green’ construction,” said Josh E. Fidler, Co-Chairman of CRP. “Quality materials and construction techniques provide energy efficiency, good quality air and water and other cost- and lifestyle benefits.”
Paragon – a 320-home community at Route 175, Route 108 and I-95 in Howard County – is built for the active lifestyle of Columbia residents. The community features a saltwater pool with separate lap lanes, an Adventure Center with kayak and canoe storage, large bike rooms and a greenhouse for resident use. The community leasing trailer opened in March and the first residents will move in on April 15.
This award is the highest level NGBS certification for residential construction in Howard County. In 2012, Chesapeake Realty Partners built the first wood-frame LEED Gold property in Baltimore City at 1901 South Charles Street.
The Paragon team includes KTGY Group, Inc. (Vienna, VA), Clark Builders Group (Arlington, VA), Patton Harris Rust & Associates (Harrisonburg, VA) and WPM Real Estate Management (Owings Mills, MD).
