Adacel announced today that Airports Fiji Limited (AFL) has awarded a long term contract to Adacel to support its Aurora ATM system, which was commissioned in Nadi Centre in May 2010. The contract provides for on-going preventative and corrective maintenance and site support.
The introduction of the Aurora system in 2010 brought AFL to the forefront of ATM technology in the Pacific. Adacel’s Aurora ATM capabilities were already in use across the Pacific in airspaces controlled by New Zealand and the USA. With the introduction of Aurora in the Nadi Flight Information Region (FIR), AFL became part of a seamless airspace stretching from the west coast of the USA to Australian controlled airspace.
Speaking of the agreement, Mr. Faiz Khan, Executive Chairman of AFL said: “The introduction of the Aurora system in our airspace allowed us to operate with neighboring ANSP’s in a completely seamless manner using an already developed and proven system. The performance of our system since commissioning has been exemplary and support from Adacel will assure continuing success in the future.”
Aurora allows AFL to handle traffic growth and provide the highest levels of safety and service to airspace users. Aurora capabilities include 4D profile protection, automated conflict detection, monitoring and control by exception, separation based on individual aircraft performance and equipage, dynamic airspace allocation, Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC), Air Traffic Services Inter-Facility Data Communications (AIDC), and surveillance incorporating radar, automatic dependent surveillance contract and broadcast (ADS-C and ADS-B) and multilateration.
Adacel is a leading developer of operational air traffic management systems, speech recognition applications and advanced ATC simulation and training solutions. The Company’s products are widely used throughout Europe, North America, the Middle East and the Asia Pacific region.
