25 Years of Backyard Morel Mushroom Cultivation
Sebastopol, CA (PRWEB) April 07, 2014 -- Gourmet Mushroom Products (GMHP) is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Morel Habitat Kit; the original sustainable, earth friendly, morel mushroom growing kit. A quarter century ago, the Morel Habitat Kit was developed so everyone could enjoy growing morel mushrooms, Morchella esculenta, in their backyard and have a personal supply of fresh morel mushrooms to eat in the spring. The Morel Habitat has supplied individuals with pounds of morel mushrooms in a garden area as small as 4 - 5 sq. ft. A typical Morel Habitat can be maintained with the biodegradable waste produced by a family of two, so anybody with a yard has most of the materials needed to create and maintain the Morel Habitat. Complete instructions for preparing and maintaining the Morel Habitat are included.
"Just thought I'd post that we had our very first morel pop in our mushroom garden that I planted last spring using the Morel Habitat Kit from GMHP. This was planted in a tiny section of our back yard in the heart of the City of St. Louis.” The Great Morel Forum
For a quarter of a century GMHP customers have found that the Morel Habitat is ecologically sound and actually allows them to improve the environment by recycling biodegradable material instead of adding it to already overburdened land and sea sites.
Morel Habitats are perennial and may be started any time the soil is workable - Spring, Summer, Fall and even Winter (in areas with a mild climate). Morel Habitats may be started in any type of soil and have produced morel mushrooms in all areas of the United States that have a definite spring. GMHP provides a unique morel strain and which will allow seeding of a backyard Morel Habitat that can produce morel mushrooms each year in a properly maintained area. Crop size may fluctuate from year to year, but customers have found morels in their Habitats 24 years after they were established!
