Ultimate Spelling Promotes A Hilarious Show From Grand Theatre Productions, Reports eReflect
New York City, NY (PRWEB) April 07, 2014 -- eReflect and Ultimate Spelling™ are pleased to announce that their readers - spelling lovers all - now have an opportunity to see a hilarious show presented by the Grand Theatre in London, UK. “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is a musical comedy inspired by a book and conceptualized by Rebecca Feldman. The play has been staged on Broadway and has been nominated for no less than six Tony Awards — and has won two of them.
The play is on until April 12 at the Grand Theatre. What’s unconventional about this musical comedy is the level of improvisation and unpredictability that comes from audience participation: four of the core characters are actually four new people picked from the audience each night. The audience’s engagement and participation in the narrative is the source of hilarious, unpredictable incidents as they are expected to participate in the Spelling Bee competition set in the Putnam Valley Middle School. The four audience members are invited on stage and compete with six other spelling bee contestants.
The show is less about the importance of learning how to spell and more about how different people with different issues come together and learn to get along. This aspect of the play is highlighted by the involvement of the randomly-chosen audience members, resulting in what almost seems to be a completely new version of the play with each performance.
eReflect shares a little known fact with its readers, noting that in one production of “The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee” Katharine Cloze, the 2006 winner of the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition, was invited to participate in the play. As might be expected, Cloze was the last of the finalists to be eliminated from the spelling bee competition in that night's production!
For more information on the London production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” Londoners and anyone else happening to be in the capital are urged to look at ticket prices and show times at the official site of the Grand Theatre.
