DeskAlerts Study Suggests 72% of US Employees Are Not Engaged With Their Companies

The corporate messaging tool, DeskAlerts has completed a brand new employee engagement study which has revealed that a massive 72% of all US workers are not engaged with their work and their employers. Just 28% of those surveyed by the US companies report classed themselves as being engaged employees.

The shocking results of the DeskAlerts research into this topic also unearthed a far more worrying statistic for the nation's businesses; that up to $540 billion per annum is lost as a direct result of employee disengagement.

In its study, DeskAlerts pinpointed four key drivers of employee engagement. They are opportunity, recognition, communication and work process. With 78% of employees not being engaged in their day to day work, there are clear indications that the majority of American corporations are falling short in these areas.

Anton Vdovin, Project Manager at DeskAlerts, said, "There is every chance that many businesses are failing to engage the majority of their employees because they lack in more than one of the key engagement drivers. This could mean that in some officers, there is a culture of poor communication coupled with a lack of recognition, a lack of recognition for the work and even poor work processes. The 78% disengagement figure speaks volumes; we were incredibly surprised to learn that under 30% of the working population would class themselves as engaged employees. With happier employees more beneficial then unhappy and uninterested ones, it is vital that this imbalance be addressed as a matter of urgency."
