Second Annual Maine YogaFest Returns to Portland on July 12 & 13
Portland, ME (PRWEB) April 06, 2014 -- Tickets are on sale for the second annual Maine YogaFest (MYF) to be held in Portland on July 12 & 13, 2014. MYF is a two-day celebration of the region’s amazing yoga talent. With more than 40 instructors and 30 studios participating, the festival offers a diverse program allowing participants to experience a wide array of yoga techniques in the idyllic setting of Coastal Maine. When not practicing yoga, attendees can explore Vendor Village, a collection of local businesses, artisans and food trucks, and enjoy live music performances on the Bangor Savings Bank Stage during class breaks. Participants may also attend a guided meditation or complimentary lecture on fascinating topics ranging from the neuroscience of yoga to the benefits of breath work.
“Last year, we had more than 500 yogis practicing throughout the weekend for our inaugural festival,” said Justine Carlisle, co-founder of Maine YogaFest. “We have expanded our program to include more music, children’s activities throughout the weekend and an even greater variety of yoga styles. Our vision is to generate a sense of community among yoga practitioners in New England and raise awareness of the numerous physical and mental benefits of yoga. We believe that yoga can be a tremendous catalyst for growth and hope by encouraging its practice, we can positively affect health and wellness in our community.”
This year, Maine YogaFest will host a special featured blacklight yoga party with NYC “Homegirl Yogini” Halle Becker with a live DJ. Becker has been featured in the New York Post and Entertainment Weekly and was voted most popular instructor on the popular yoga website, Alignyo. Becker is known for her spiritual gangster style and her signature sweat and surrender yoga classes.
David Magone and Jacqui Bonwell join Becker as featured instructors at Maine YogaFest. Since founding PranaVayu Yoga in 2001, Magone has received a number of accolades and regularly contributes to the Huffington Post. Magone teaches his signature style yoga in workshops and retreats worldwide. Bonwell, a soulful and passionate teacher, has trained hundreds of instructors in New England.
